Big FishRibbon Revival is a company specialising in all areas of computer printers and sells to all corners of the world. However while it had established a respected brand through its franchises its company name was becoming increasingly outdated as most printers were using toner or inkjet cartridges. As a result it decided to change its name to “Big Fish” and register the domain name “bigfishhooked.com”. Its web site was redesigned and moved to this new domain along with its email addresses. The problem now was how to inform their Internet customers of the change of brand in conjunction with their marketing of traditional promotional channels. One issue to tackle first was search engine positioning. As the name was relatively unknown it was important that customers be able to find the site under both “Big Fish” as well as “Ribbon Revival”. Linesnapper advised Big fish on how best to construct their web site to achieve optimum results along with calculating suitable meta tags that would help customers find them both as a company and as a supplier of desired products. As many search engines can take up to three months to adjust to the changes submitted to them it was essential to send new site pages well in advance of the launch and even before the whole site was finished. As a result Linesnapper submitted a number of tailored pages to start bringing traffic to the site in line with their official launch. “Linesnapper’s expertise in Internet promotion techniques certainly got us off to a flying start” said Big Fish web master Oliver Cockhead. “The combination of online advertising, site optimisation and pre-registration with the search engines to coincide with our launch helped guarantee that not only did we retain our existing customers but also attracted new ones.”
